Graduated
from UMIST with a BSc in Materials Science in 1987 and with a PhD
from Loughborough University in 1996.
Involved
with polymers (amongst other materials) since 1992 while working
in the field of high performance cables, firstly with Northern Telecom
Defence Systems (formerly STC) and since 1995 with RAYDEX/CDT, Littleborough.
Involved
with the Manchester Polymer Group since 1995, firstly by attending
the annual lecture program, then more actively through involvement
with the committee.
Elected
to committee in 2000 and then to the position of Honorary Secretary
in 2001. Considers the work of the Manchester Polymer Group to be
a highly important part of the promotion of plastics and rubber
technology in the north-west for both industry and schools.
